The purpose of IACO shall be to foster and promote amateur athletic sports by providing for the recruitment, training and ongoing education of amateur athletic sports officials. The NOA is an IACO member and we should all take advantage of the training and education provided by IACO. Here are some upcoming basketball training opportunities.

IACO Basketball Clinic - The 50th Annual IACO Basketball Clinic will be held at Elmwood Park High School on Saturday, November 6.  The clinic will offer IHSA Level 1 Clinic Credit and is classroom-only based.  The clinic will start at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at noon.  Online pre-registration will run through November 4.  The cost is $25 on-line and $30 at the door.  This year’s clinic will allow participants to choose the speaker they wish to hear, based on experience level, topic and speaker.  This year’s speakers incorporate officials with 25 basketball state final appearances, eight IHSA certified basketball clinicians and six current assignors.

IACO New Officials basketball class -The New Officials Basketball Class prepares the participant to officiate high school basketball games. This six-week FREE course includes classroom instruction on the rules of high school basketball and appropriate IHSA officiating mechanics. Officiating philosophy for the high school game is also discussed. The course
incorporates over 100 video clips and numerous review sessions of NFHS rules. This class is ideal for basketball officials with zero to four years of basketball officiating experience. Officials new to the IHSA will be able to obtain an officiating license at a reduced rate. Completion of the class will allow the participant to earn IHSA Level 1 Clinic Credit. Participants must attend a minimum of four sessions to be eligible for IHSA clinic credit.

Classes begin October 4 and will be held via ZOOM.
