Norman Geske was a widely respected referee of high school football who lived in Buffalo Grove and served for many years as principal of Joyce Kilmore Elementary School.
Norman officiated for thirty-five years. In addition to officiating numerous state championship games at the high school level, including Buffalo Grove's championship final against St. Rita in 1978, Mr. Geske was an avid teacher of other officials as well as a nationally respected expert in football rules.
As a result of his prominence in high school football, Mr. Geske was the first official elected to the high school athletic Hall of Fame in 1982.
The many officials whom he influenced have established the scholarship in his memory. Each spring, a scholarship in his name is presented to a deserving senior football player by the athletic department of Buffalo Grove High School.
